With my brother’s wedding now not too far away, finding the best gifts for sister-in-laws is something that I’m already thinking about ahead of the festive season. After all, his lovely fiancée has asked me to be one of her bridesmaids — so making sure she’s got a truly great gift from me to unwrap on Christmas Day feels like a good way to show how happy I am she has officially joined the family.
However, when it comes to siblings, my boyfriend and I are both severely lacking in the sister department. I’m a dab hand at buying gifts for brothers (we have four between us), but I’m not quite so at home with sister gifts. So, I decided it time to get clued-up: we’ve welcomed a fair few fabulous fiancées, wives, and long-term partners in recent years — all of whom deserve only the very best birthday and Christmas gifts.
There was a time when you didn’t even know she existed – and now she’s someone who you’ll (hopefully!) have a relationship with for the rest of your life. Whether she’s the much-loved significant other of your sibling, or the wife of your spouse’s brother or sister who you can always rely on for a debrief after a family gathering, a SIL has the potential to become a lifelong best friend and ally. And these thoughtful gifts will let her know just how happy you are to have her around. Oh — and that she’s never allowed to leave.
