'Software-defined vehicles more safe & economical'

BENGALURU: Wipro CEO Srini Pallia posed alongside the firm’s automotive prototype at its Bengaluru campus on Monday. The prototype is powered by their cloud car ecosystem showcasing capabilities in software-defined vehicles (SDV).
“By utilising AI-driven solutions, we are setting new standards in the automotive sector, focusing on vehicle durability, performance, and sustainability. Through the integration of cutting-edge technologies and our deep domain expertise, we are assisting OEMs globally in the development of software-defined vehicles (SDVs), while also reducing costs and enhancing safety, security, and time to market,” Pallia said in a LinkedIn post.
The cloud car ecosystem will bring software-defined vehicles to the cloud via a scalable, secure, and hardware-agnostic platform. In fact, the platform was unveiled during the Engineering the Cloud Car Ecosystem panel in Barcelona in 2022. The idea was for the platform to deliver automakers an integrated, cloud-native software solution-equipped with an end-to-end cybersecurity system that will help them innovate faster at a lower cost and keep software-defined vehicles (SDVs) digitally relevant for years. Essentially, it is using an AI-driven approach to make cars futuristic.
Modern vehicles are essentially computers on wheels, encompassing 30-40 distinct platforms and millions of lines of code, with the cloud car initiative falling under Wipro’s FullStride vertical-the cloud division.
It encompasses crucial technologies including cloud computing, silicon manufacturing, middleware, and mechatronics amongst others. The cloud car platform operates at the backend to amalgamate data from sensors and cameras. Vehicles will utilise AI to retrieve data and ultimately execute autonomous decision-making capabilities.
