Shreyas Iyer nominated for ICC Men’s Player of the Month

NEW DELHI: Among the international stars vying for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for March 2025, India’s Shreyas Iyer stands tall as the lone Indian nominee.
He is understood to have been rewarded for his calm, composed, and crucial contributions during India’s victorious ICC Champions Trophy campaign.
Iyer was the backbone of India’s middle-order, compiling 172 runs across three high-pressure matches at an average of 57.33.

While the numbers are solid, it’s the context of those performances that makes his nomination especially significant.
Iyer was India’s top run-getter in the tournament and delivered each time the team found itself in a tough spot.
In the group-stage clash against New Zealand, Iyer’s 79-run knock was a masterclass in patience and timing, stabilising the innings after early setbacks.
Against Australia in the semi-final, he dug in for a gritty 45 on a challenging surface, before playing yet another match-winning hand in the final.
There, he scored a composed 48 as India lifted the trophy with a win over the Kiwis.
What set Iyer apart wasn’t just the runs he scored, but how he absorbed pressure and rebuilt innings when the top-order faltered.
His ability to rotate strike, soak in pressure, and anchor the chase showcased his maturity and value to the Indian lineup.
While Jacob Duffy and Rachin Ravindra earned their nominations through standout performances for New Zealand, Iyer’s consistent impact in crunch games cements his case as a deserving frontrunner.
