September 22nd: Sunday’s European Accumulator – 8/1 – Soccer News

Tom Dunstan

With the opening round of Champions League fixtures getting underway in midweek, it return of Europe’s domestic elite will steal centre stage this weekend.

Watching Manchester City and Arsenal met at the Etihad for what promises to be a heavyweight showdown, we have plenty of eye-catching battles from across the continent.

For those of you looking to stick on a Sunday acca, we have taken a look at some of the most appealing European betting tips.

Sunday, September 22nd

BST 16:30 Manchester City vs Arsenal

Although Manchester City might have relinquished their maiden European crown last season, Pep Guardiola’s men only shattered more domestic records. Becoming the first club in Premier League history to claim fourth consecutive top-flight titles, the Sky Blues have once again come flying out of the traps this time around. Although Sunday’s hosts might have got their Champions League adventure underway with a 0-0 stalemate at home against Italian icons Inter Milan earlier in the week, Man City have won all of their first four Premier League appearances. Opening this weekend’s fixtures as the only club that can boast a 100% start to proceedings, the former Barcelona boss will be calling on his squad to lay down a heavyweight marker at the Etihad here. It should also be highlighted, Guardiola’s men have not suffered a single Premier League defeat in the blue half of Manchester since way back in November 2022.

While Arsenal might have fallen short last season in the race to get their hands on a first Premier League crown since 2004, the Gunners are once again tipped as City’s main title foe this time around. However, although Mikel Arteta’s men might have marked their return from September’s internal break with a famous 1-0 win away at arch-rivals Tottenham, Sunday’s guests are seeking a recent clinical edge in the final third. Opening their respective Champions League campaign with a sluggish 0-0 stalemate away at Italian outfit Atalanta in midweek, Arsenal have failed to notch a single goal from open play since returning from September’s fortnight interval. With the two Premier League heavyweights playing out a 0-0 stalemate when they last met at the Etihad back on March 30th, we could be set for a real chess match on Sunday afternoon.

Tip: Both teams to score – No

18:30 St. Pauli vs RB Leipzig

While RB Leipzig might have suffered a Champions League collapse away at Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in midweek as they eventually fell to a 2-1 loss, the Red Bulls have embarked on a real domestic flurry since opening up the new campaign. Springing what was a sensational upset away at defending champions Bayer Leverkusen prior to September’s international break with an action-packed 3-2 victory, Marco Rose’s camp have collected seven points from their first three Bundesliga appearances. With some in Leipzig’s camp potential dreaming of the chance to mount a genuine title charge this time around, Sunday’s guests should be smelling a golden opportunity when they return to domestic action this weekend. It should also be highlighted, continuing on from last season, Rose’s side are unbeaten in all of their previous 14 Bundesliga showdowns on the bounce – a run that stems all the way back to February 24th.

Although St. Pauli might have embarked on a real fairytale last season as they secured a famous Bundesliga return, Alexander Blessin’s men have an almighty battle on their hands this time around. Marking their return from September’s international break with a 3-1 hammering at the hands of Augsburg, the Hamburg-based outfit are pencilled in as a landslide relegation contender this year. Getting proceedings underway last month with a 2-0 loss at home against Hiedenheim, Sunday’s hosts have lost all of their first three Bundesliga appearances by an aggregate score of 6-1. One of just three top-flight clubs that are yet to put a single point on the board, St. Pauli face another stern challenge here. Two sides who are expected to be battling it out at opposite ends of the Bundesliga table this season, Blessin’s camp appear to have another major challenge on their hands.

Tip: Benjamin Sesko to score anytime @ 2/1

19:45 Inter Milan vs AC Milan

While some in Inter Milan’s camp might have been frustrated earlier in the week as they opened their Champions League adventure with a 0-0 stalemate away at English heavyweights Manchester City, the Nerrazzuri have embarked on another remarkable domestic romp. Enjoying a history-making romp last season as they stormed their way to a 20th Serie A crown, Simone Inzaghi’s men have continued to receive a string of plaudits from across the continent. Heading into September’s international break with a stellar 4-0 victory at home against local rivals Atalanta, the former Lazio boss should find the mood in his camp at a red-hot high. Suffering just a pair of domestic defeats last season and already pencilled in as a standout contender to defend their Serie A title this season, Inter Milan will certainly be smelling the chance to lay down another heavyweight marker this weekend.

Getting their respective European campaign underway in midweek with a real collapse on home soil as they fell to a 3-1 drumming at home against Liverpool, AC Milan have drastically struggled to find any kind of stability since opening the new campaign. With it reported this week that new boss Paulo Fonseca already has a tremendous amount of pressure on his shoulders, the former Lille boss should be bracing himself for another stern examination on Sunday night. Collecting just a single victory from any of their first five appearances across all competitions, the Italian giants should also be concerned by a nightmare record against their arch-rivals. Including a 2-1 defeat when they last met the Nerrazzuri back on April 22nd, they have now lost each of their last six consecutive showdowns against the defending champions by an aggregate score of 14-2.

Tip: Inter Milan win @ 7/10
