Rekha brings Banarasi magic back to life in Manish Malhotra’s timeless weave
Manish Malhotra has recently showcased Rekha in his designs, highlighting her timeless beauty and affinity for Indian handlooms. The actress was photographed in a handwoven Banarasi Kora silk saree, exuding elegance. This collaboration celebrates Indian craftsmanship and sustainable fashion, with Rekha restyling treasured pieces from her wardrobe, reinforcing the enduring appeal of traditional weaves.

Fashion designer Manish Malhotra has once again captured the timeless beauty of Rekha in a series of breathtaking photographs, showcasing her in a handwoven Banarasi Kora silk saree from his label. Dressed in chartreuse green with hints of gold, silver, and a soft touch of pink, Rekha looked like a vision – elegant, regal, and completely in her element.

On Thursday, Malhotra shared the new photos on Instagram, writing, “There is always a REKHA about our Iconic and Stunning Rekhaji dressed in a handwoven Chartreuse Banarasi Kora silk sari with gold and silver zari accentuated with a delicate hint of pink #mymmsaree.” Known for her affinity for Indian handlooms, Rekha once again paid homage to tradition in a way only she can gracefully, and with unmatched poise.
This isn’t the first time the iconic actress has mesmerised us in Malhotra’s creations. Just last month, the designer posted a stunning image of Rekha in an all-white saree from his collection, calling her “a vision of sublime grace.” And on March 1, she appeared in another striking look, a black and gold Kanjeevaram saree, paired with a Bordeaux vintage velvet blouse. The blouse, inspired by the traditional Sadri style, featured rich zardozi embroidery and was entirely handcrafted at the designer’s atelier.

Did you know Shatrughan Sinha blamed Rekha for his rift with Amitabh Bachchan?

What made the black-and-gold ensemble even more memorable was its message of sustainability. The saree was a treasured piece from Rekha’s personal wardrobe, now thoughtfully restyled for a new moment in time. Manish highlighted the significance of this gesture in his caption: “Style icons like Rekhaji restoring and repeatedly wearing and restyling these beautifully crafted pieces of heritage art and textile gives a new meaning to style and to sustainability.”

Rekha’s continued collaboration with Manish Malhotra goes beyond just fashion, it’s a celebration of Indian craftsmanship, tradition, and the evolving dialogue around conscious luxury. With every appearance, she proves that age-old weaves, when embraced with elegance and authenticity, never go out of style.
