Ravindra Jadeja surpasses KKR's mentor, becomes CSK's leading wicket-taker in IPL

Ravindra Jadeja became Chennai Super Kings’ all-time leading IPL wicket-taker during their match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday. The left-arm spinner surpassed Dwayne Bravo’s record of 140 wickets by dismissing Ajinkya Rahane for his 141st wicket in yellow colors.Jadeja’s IPL career statistics now stand at 168 wickets in 251 matches, with an economy rate of 7.65 and an average of 30.46. He has also contributed significantly with the bat, scoring 3142 runs at an average of 27.32 and a strike rate of 129.57. Bravo is currently mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders.In the CSK all-time wicket-takers list, R. Ashwin holds the third position with 95 wickets, followed by Deepak Chahar and Albie Morkel with 76 wickets each. However, in overall T20 wickets for the franchise, Jadeja remains slightly behind Bravo, with 150 wickets compared to the West Indian’s 154.In Wednesday’s match, KKR posted 179-6 after choosing to bat first. KKR’s innings began with Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine opening, but Gurbaz fell early to Anshul Kamboj for 11 runs.

The powerplay proved productive for KKR as they reached 67/1, with Rahane and Narine forming a quick 50-run partnership in just 25 balls. However, Noor Ahmad struck twice in one over, removing Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi.KKR captain Rahane’s innings of 48 runs from 33 balls, including four boundaries and a six, provided a solid foundation before Jadeja dismissed him. Andre Russell then joined Manish Pandey at the crease.Who’s that IPL player?Russell and Pandey put together a crucial 46-run partnership in 27 balls. Russell’s aggressive knock of 38 runs from 21 balls, featuring four fours and three sixes, ended when Noor Ahmad claimed his wicket.The final phase of KKR’s innings saw Rinku Singh join Pandey, but Singh could only manage 9 runs from 6 balls before becoming Noor Ahmad’s fourth victim. Pandey and Ramandeep Singh added 16 runs in the final two overs.Noor Ahmad emerged as the standout bowler for CSK with figures of 4/31. Jadeja and Kamboj claimed one wicket each, while the remaining CSK bowlers went wicketless. CSK was set a target of 180 runs for victory.
