Raveena Tandon reacted to rumoured catfights with Karisma Kapoor.

Raveena Tandon addressed the rumours of a catfight between her and Karisma Kapoor during Aatish.

During the peak of Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor’s careers, rumors swirled about their supposed animosity, with many believing the two actresses weren’t even on speaking terms while working on the comedy classic ‘Andaz Apna Apna’. However, in a recent interview, Raveena Tandon set the record straight when asked about the alleged “catfight” with Karisma during the filming of ‘Aatish’. She clarified that no such fight ever took place and emphasized that, unlike male actors who would often engage in physical altercations, disagreements among female actors were limited to verbal discussions.

Speaking with Filmfare, Raveena expressed that she has maintained friendships with many of her contemporaries, including Pooja Bhatt, Juhi Chawla, Madhuri Dixit, and Shilpa Shetty. She pointed out that while camaraderie was common among female actors, there were a few who were insecure then and remain so today, preventing stronger bonds from forming. However, she firmly dismissed the notion of “catfights,” stating that these stories were often exaggerated for the sake of gossip.

She shared, “It’s that camaraderie that is still very much prevalent, but there are a few who were insecure then and are insecure now also, who have not been able to keep those bonds. But we still meet socially. But when you say catfights, there were never really catfights.”

Addressing the rumor about a supposed altercation at an airport during an outdoor shoot for ‘Aatish’, Raveena clarified, “That was never a catfight. I beg to differ. There was never a catfight. There might be a discussion, there night be a ‘why are you doing this, and what is the need to do this, and let’s bridge this gap’ but there was never a catfight. It was all hyped and of course, mirch masala and everything. In those days, there was no social media. You couldn’t really reach out and how much do you really clarify?”

Raveena also highlighted the contrast between how male and female actors handled conflicts in those days. “Men used to actually have fistfights in those days, so what would you call them? Women didn’t. Maximum, we would have a discussion like, ‘What is wrong? Let’s bury the hatchet.’ But some people didn’t want to, so it became a catfight. There were no catfights. That was always overhyped and masala and something that we learnt to take in our stride. Ki public ko chahiye masala, jaane do.”

Meanwhile, Raveena Tandon’s Ghudchadi hit theatres on August 9. The film, also starring Sanjay Dutt, Parth Samthaan and Khushalii Kumar, is getting mixed reviews from the audience and critics. Talking about her chemistry in the film with Dutt, News18 Showsha’s review read, “You might think the only saving grace is the pair of Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon. And we wish we could say the same. It’s definitely nostalgic to see them serenading and romancing each other, but this angle also suffers from poor writing. The sequences featuring them bore so much potential but fizzle out before they can take off. Raveena, however, looks stunning and brings an element of normalcy to this cluttered story. The makers tried to pack too much into two hours with a paper-thin plot.”
