Ras Raj Ji Maharaj reacts to Ranveer Allahbadia controversy: 'Usko ek chance dena chahiye'

Spiritual leader Ras Raj Ji Maharaj has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia, following the outrage caused over his offensive remarks on ‘India’s Got Latent‘.
In his latest chat with comedian Aman Bhardawaj, Ras Raj Ji Maharaj was quizzed on his opinion about the controversy that led to several FIRs being filed against Allahbadia and other comedians, including deleting their YouTube series. While admitting that the comedian was wrong with his choice of words, the Maharaj said that people should give him a second chance.
Addressing the situation, he acknowledged the widespread criticism saying, “Jitni uski burai ki jaaye, ninda ki jaaye, woh kam hai. Lekin, hum log haath dho ke peeche pad jaate hain. Jitna mujhe lagta hai, uske saath poore Bharat ne milke kiya hai. (No matter how much he is criticized or condemned, it will still be less. But we tend to relentlessly go after someone without letting go. From what I feel, the entire country has come together against him.)”
He further noted that the intense public scrutiny has already served as a punishment for Ranveer, adding, “Iski ninda ki hai na, ye saza usko mil chuki hai (He has already been condemned enough, and that itself is his punishment.)”

Despite his disapproval of Ranveer’s controversial statements, Ras Raj Ji Maharaj stressed that the podcaster deserves a chance to make amends, particularly given the positive impact of his podcast content that had the potential to reach out to the youth of the country. “Usko ek chance dena chahiye. Main toh khud keh raha hoon ki jo baat usne kahi hai, ye maaf layak hai (He should be given a chance. I myself am saying that what he said is forgivable.)”

Ranveer has been at the centre of a social media storm following remarks that many deemed inappropriate and offensive. On Thursday, the Guwahati Police questioned him in connection with the case over his offensive remarks made on the show. The comedian, accompanied by his advocate, appeared before the Crime Branch, and Joint Commissioner Ankur Jain who interrogated him for several hours.
Though the Supreme Court granted him interim protection from arrest, it termed his remarks “vulgar” and said he had a “dirty mind” that shamed society.
