The controversy surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks on Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent has drawn reactions from several celebrities, with actor Sahil Salathia being the latest to weigh in. Salathia, who recently walked the ramp for designer Mandira Wirk at the FDCI India Men’s Fashion Weekend in Jaipur, addressed the issue while speaking to ANI.

Salathia highlighted the responsibility that comes with being a content creator and the impact viral trends have on audiences. He pointed out that sensationalism often drives engagement, stating, “It’s unfortunate, but our literacy rate is not very high. If you use a lot of foul language, you’re going to get views. If you do clickbait and use big names, you’re going to get views. If you bring people on a show and ‘zalil karo’ them, you’re going to get views because people enjoy that.”

The actor stressed the importance of accountability among influencers, urging them not to dismiss their influence on young audiences. “As creators, whether we are artists, actors, musicians, or designers, we all have a sense of responsibility. So I don’t like it when people say, ‘I’m not responsible. I got my check. I’m popular.’ No, you are responsible. A lot of kids and young people look up to you. Even if they don’t idolize you, they still pick up certain habits from you. That’s why people put you on a pedestal. You have to be more responsible,” he asserted.
Speaking about Ranveer Allahbadia, Sahil Salathia acknowledged his contributions, particularly his work on spirituality-related content. However, he also emphasized the importance of being mindful of one’s associations. He suggested that the environment a person surrounds themselves with plays a crucial role in shaping their values and reputation. According to Salathia, if someone engages with the wrong company, they risk being drawn into unnecessary controversies. He further stressed that creators should align themselves with ethical brands and teams that reflect their principles.
However, he suggested moving forward if Ranveer Allahbadia had apologized. “I’m not saying he’s good or bad. I’m just saying that maybe if he’s apologized, it’s time to let it go, but it definitely shouldn’t happen again. And India’s got talent, man, not latent. What is that?”
On the other hand, FIRs have been filed against Ranveer and Samay in Maharashtra and Assam.
Several celebrities have reacted to this incident. Popular cricketer Virat Kohli has reportedly unfollowed Ranveer on social media.
