Ranveer Allahbadia admits to his mistake in statement to the police: 'Went to Samay Raina's show because he's a friend'

Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chachlani were summoned on Monday. They appeared before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell in Thane, to record their statement after already missing out on two summons. For those not in the know, FIRs have filed against Ranveer, Ashish Chachlani, Samay Raina, Apoora Makhija. Ranveer’s statement on the show regarding parental sex faced a lot of backlash. Now as Ranveer recorded his statement, a report suggests that he confessed to his crime in front of the police.
According to ABP news, Raveer said in his statement, according to a source, “I am a friend of Samay Raina. That is why I went to that show. It was my mistake to say the line which has caused controversy. I should not have said that.”
He further told the police that, “We are YouTubers and that is why we keep coming on each other’s shows due to friendship.” He also regretted saying what he did.
According to ANI, both YouTubers recorded their statements, with Ranveer leaving after four hours, while Ashish continued his session. Meanwhile, Ranveer had filed a plea in the Supreme Court regarding all the FIRs against him. The supreme court told him, “If this isn’t obscenity, then what is?” Further, while the court has granted him interim protection, he is barred from doing shows and travelling outside the country.
He had dropped an apology video where he said, “My comment was not appropriate; it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I personally had a lapse in judgment. I’m sorry.” The National Commission for Women (NCW) also intervened, summoning Allahbadia, Raina, and Mukhija for their remarks. The new summons require Allahbadia and Mukhija to appear on March 6, while Raina has been directed to appear on March 11.
