Ranbir Kapoor recalled about his traumatizing childhood caused by Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh’s fights.
In a recent interview with Nikhil Kamath on his YouTube channel ‘People by WTF,’ Ranbir Kapoor opened up about his childhood experiences and the impact of his parents’ turbulent relationship. Ranbir candidly shared his fear and anxiety caused by the frequent arguments between his late father, Rishi Kapoor, and his mother, Neetu Singh.
Reflecting on those challenging times, Ranbir said, “Anybody who speaks in a louder tone, it disturbs me, since childhood. My parents went through a lot of fights. We lived in a bungalow, so I have spent most of my childhood on the staircases, hearing them fight. I was always scared and on the edge.” He continued, “I think they were both going through a rough patch. My sister wasn’t around, so I kind of felt responsible. My mother used to talk about her feelings to me. But, my father wasn’t that expressive. I never understood or heard his point of view.”
Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh tied the knot in January 1980, marking the beginning of a prominent Bollywood legacy. They have an elder daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, who is married to Bharat Sahni. Their son, Ranbir Kapoor, continued the family tradition by marrying his “Brahmastra” co-star, Alia Bhatt, in April 2022. The couple welcomed their daughter, Raha Kapoor, in November 2022.
Ranbir Kapoor made a notable entry into Bollywood with his debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya.’ He quickly rose to fame with acclaimed roles in films such as ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno,’ ‘Wake Up Sid,’ ‘Rajneeti,’ and ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani.’ His most recent film, ‘Animal,’ directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Triptii Dimri, Suresh Oberoi, and Shakti Kapoor, achieved commercial success but faced criticism from some quarters for its portrayal of toxic masculinity and glorification of violence.
