Ranbir Kapoor CONFIRMS 'Brahmastra 2' announcement coming soon; Ayan Mukerji to begin work after 'War 2'

Fans of the Bollywood sci-fi film Brahmastra have reason to rejoice as Ranbir Kapoor has officially confirmed that a sequel is on the cards.
The actor, who joined his wife, Alia Bhatt for a candid chat with the media, ahead of her birthday, shared that an announcement regarding their highly anticipated movie Brahmastra: Part Two, will be made soon.
Speaking about the project, Ranbir said, “Brahmastra is something that Ayan Mukerji has been nurturing as a dream for a very long time. As you guys know, he is currently working on War 2. Once that releases, he will start working on Brahmastra 2. It’s definitely happening. We haven’t really announced much of it, but Brahmastra 2 is happening for sure. You’ll soon see some announcements coming soon.”
Director Ayan, who helmed the first instalment, is currently busy with War 2, a high-profile action film featuring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani in lead roles. Once that project is completed, Mukerji will shift his focus back to the Brahmastra universe. Buzz was that the director was initially scheduled to immediately start work on the sequel after the release of Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, in 2022, however, after bagging the spy thriller, he put the sci-fi film on hold.
Currently, WAR 2 is slated for a release on 14 August, 2025. The film was reportedly hit with a 4-week delay as leading man Hrithik injured his leg while shooting a dance number in the city with Jr NTR.
Brahmastra, a first of its kind in India, won over the audience, with its stunning visuals and mythology-inspired plot. The film also featured Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in lead roles.
Meanwhile, there is no confirmation if Ranbir’s return to the franchise as Shiva, or if this film will serve as a stand-alone story for the character named Dev.
Brahmastra was set to be a trilogy. However, owing to delays in production and post-production VFX.
