Rajkummar Rao calls Vicky Kaushal’s look as Chiranjeevi Parashurama ‘Epic’
Vicky Kaushal has surprised fans with the first look of his next film Mahavatar. He will be playing the role of Chiranjeevi Parashurama. Fans have been gushing over his never-before-seen avatar. The mythological drama will be released in 2026. Rajkummar Rao also praised the actor’s look and called it epic.
Taking to his Instagram stories, Rajkummar shared the poster and wrote, “Wow, this is going to be Epic.” To note, the film is slated to release on Christmas 2026. Mahavatar is produced by Dinesh Vijan and will be directed by Amar Kaushik, the filmmaker behind Stree 2. Sharing the motion poster on Instagram, Vicky wrote, “Dinesh Vijan brings to life the story of the eternal warrior of dharma! Vicky Kaushal stars as Chiranjeevi Parashurama in #Mahavatar, directed by Amar Kaushik. Coming to cinemas – Christmas 2026!”

The film is expected to go floors in November 2026, after Vicky has completed Love & War with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. “After Love & War, Vicky was looking to sign on for a mega-budget feature film and producer Dinesh Vijan came up with a script he couldn’t say no to. Vicky’s next after Love & War is an epic feature film that would see him play the part of Lord Parshuram. Vicky jumped to the idea of the film and signed it without any second thoughts,” the source said.
Vicky has been taking up an interesting mix of projects. Last year, he was seen in an intense Sam Bahadur, only to shift gears and play a comedy role in Bad Newz. He will now be seen in Chhava. The film, another Dinesh Vijan production, will see Vicky play the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji. The film is slated to release this December but reports suggest, it could be postponed.
On the other hand, Rajkummar Rao will be next seen in Maalik, directed by Pulkit. Rajkummar took to Instagram and shared the poster. He is seen standing on top of a jeep holding an AK-47. The poster also features a line of trucks queued up in front of him. Giving an update about the filming, he captioned it: “#Maalik ki duniya mein aapka swagat hai. Shoot shuru ho chuka hai, jald hi mulaqat hogi!”
