NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his respects to former PM Rajiv Gandhi on his 33rd death anniversary on Tuesday.

Several Congress leaders including president Mallikarjun Kharge, Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and party MP Rahul Gandhi paid homage to Rajiv Gandhi at Veer Bhumi in Delhi on Tuesday morning.
Rajiv Gandhi died on May 21, 1991 in a suicide bombing in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
He had taken over the charge of the Congress in 1984 following the assassination of his mother and then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and then became India’s youngest Prime Minister at the age of 40.
