'People got tired of no common sense agendas': Trump congratulates Merz for becoming next Chancellor of Germany
US President Donald Trump and Friedrich Merz

Calling the victory of the conservative alliance in the Germany election “a great day” for the country, US President Donald Trump slammed the Olaf Scholz’s regime and said that the people got tired of “no common sense agenda.”
This remark came as the conservatives won the Sunday’s elections, with their leader Friedrich Merz set to become the next chancellor, followed by the far-right AfD in second place after record gains, according to exit polls.
“looks like the Conservative Party in Germany has won the very big and highly anticipated election. Much like the USA, the people of Germany got tired of the no common sense agenda, especially on energy and immigration, that has prevailed for so many years,” Trump said in an all-caps post on his Truth Social platform.

Donald Trump’s post on Truth social, congratulating Merz

“This is a great day for Germany, and for the United States of America under the leadership of a gentleman named Donald J Trump. congratulations to all — many more victories to follow!!!” he added.
Apart from Trump, Greece’s conservative prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis also congratulated Merz. He said on X: “A decisive victory for our political family, for Germany, and for Europe. Congratulations @_FriedrichMerz! One thing is clear: you will be Germany’s next chancellor.”
In a recent fiery speech in parliament, Merz accused Chancellor Scholz and his allies of running Germany into the ground like failed business managers seeking contract extensions.
He mocked, “”Do you know what the owners would say once they stopped laughing?” Merz asked mockingly. “They would politely ask you to leave the company. That’s how it is in normal life.”
Merz, eager to fulfill his long-held ambition of leading the country, promised to revive the economy and restore Germany’s international stature. He called for swift coalition talks, warning that “the world out there is not waiting for us.”
Merz’s bold proposals include halting undocumented migration, detaining those awaiting deportation, and cracking down on “social welfare tourism.”
His controversial past comments, including labeling Muslim immigrant sons as “little pashas” and criticizing some Ukrainian refugees, have drawn criticism. In parliament, Merz pushed a motion to tighten immigration with support from the far-right AfD, signaling a sharp rightward shift, which also includes plans for a “zero tolerance” approach to crime, a marijuana ban, and revisiting nuclear energy.
