Pakistan blames India again for Baloch terror attacks

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan military and Balochistan provincial leadership on Friday accused India of orchestrating terrorism in the restive southwestern province, a day after the PM Shehbaz Sharif-led govt levelled similar allegations against New Delhi. However, they failed to offer any specific evidence — such as intercepted communications or captured operatives — to back the claims.
Addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad, director general of inter-services PR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry and Balochistan chief minister Sarfaraz Bugti alleged that India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) is the chief financier and planner behind a surge in violent attacks, including the recent bombing of the Jaffar Express train.
Chaudhry asserted that India is leveraging Afghan territory to wage a proxy war against Pakistan, targeting critical infrastructure like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a multi-billion-dollar initiative central to Beijing’s Belt and Road ambitions.
Bugti echoed the military’s stance, describing an “intelligence-driven war” unleashed by foreign powers, with India at the helm. He accused India of arming and funding the Baloch Liberation Army, a separatist group banned in Pakistan and blamed for the Jaffar Express attack. “This is not just insurgency; it’s a calculated assault on our sovereignty,” Bugti said, vowing a robust response alongside federal and military efforts. He claimed a network of Baloch dissidents abroad actively collaborates with India.
