Tech billionaire and DOGE leader Elon Musk on Friday predicted that US Vice President JD Vance will one day succeed his boss, Donald Trump, as president.
“Best VP ever and our future President,” Musk wrote on his social media platform X.
The world’s richest man and a top donor to Trump’s 2024 campaign had made a similar statement last week, saying: “Best VP ever and hopefully our future President.”
Since Trump’s return to the White House last month, Musk has been granted significant influence over government operations, leading the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to cut federal spending and restructure agencies.
Though officially designated as a “special government employee” and “senior adviser to the president,” Musk has been more visible alongside Trump than Vance in the administration’s early weeks.
At 39, Vance is the third-youngest vice president in US history and among the least politically experienced, having served just one Senate term before assuming the role.
A best-selling author, Vance’s stance on Trump has dramatically shifted since 2016, when he was a staunch “Never Trumper,” calling Trump “a moral disaster” and even comparing him to Adolf Hitler.
However, Vance later embraced Trump, securing his endorsement in the 2022 Ohio Senate race, a move that helped propel him to national prominence.
