NEW DELHI: An Eid celebration turned into tragedy for a family in Delhi after they lost their two-year-old daughter in a car accident driven by a neighbour’s teenage son in the Paharganj area.
The authorities have detained both the vehicle owner, Pankaj Agarwal, and his son, who was behind the wheel.
In a video, that is being circulated online,a toddler is seen sitting on the ground, engaged in play, when a car approaches from the opposite direction. The driver appears hesitant but proceeds forward, ultimately running over the child.
Upon witnessing the shocking incident, neighbors immediately rushed to the scene and quickly pulled the child from beneath the vehicle.
The fatal accident took place at Ram Nagar, Paharganj, around 6.15 pm on Sunday, with the entire incident recorded by surveillance cameras.
CCTV footage revealed the vehicle approaching at a slow pace before stopping briefly. Subsequently, as the car moved forward, the child was caught beneath the left front wheel.
Local residents immediately attempted to help the young victim and transported her to a nearby medical facility, where medical staff pronounced her deceased.
