The action by the SIT comes days after a Bengaluru court sent Revanna to 14-day judicial custody (starting from June 18) in a sexual assault and rape case.
The order was pronounced by the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (AACM) special court.
Revanna, who is former JD(S) MP from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency and accused of sexually assaulting three women, was arrested minutes after he landed at Kempegowda International Airport on May 30.
The 33-year-old MP, arriving from Munich, was swiftly taken to the CID office for interrogation.
Prajwal, who is the grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former PM HD Deve Gowda and was the NDA’s candidate from the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, is facing charges of multiple instances of sexually abusing women.
The cases came to light after several explicit videos of sexual assault allegedly by Prajwal became public. A SIT is currently probing these cases. Prajwal reportedly left for Germany on April 27, a day after Hassan went to polls, and is still at large. Interpol has also issued a Blue Corner Notice seeking information on his whereabouts.
On the same day (June 18) Revanna was to judicial custody, the Karnataka high court granted anticipatory bail to Prajwal Revanna’s mother, Bhavani Revanna in an abduction case registered by the KR Nagar police in Mysuru.
Incidentally, JDS MLA from Holenarasipura constituency and former minister HD Revanna, who happens to be Bhavani Revanna’s husband is also an accused in this case.
Allowing her petition, Justice Krishna S Dixit said that the interim anticipatory bail granted to her on June 7 stood confirmed.
The judge also pointed out that Bhavani Revanna had answered 85 questions posed by the SIT during the three days when she had appeared before the investigating officer.
The petitioner shall not hover in any place in the territorial Mysuru and Hassan districts. However ,this condition will not come in the way of police taking to such places for the purposes of investigation only, the judge further added.
