The NTA made the statement as it released the provisional answer keys for CUET-UG and said it will redo the exams for those with genuine grievances if complaints are validated.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday said that it will “redo” the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) exam “if any grievances are found to be genuine”. The announcement was made via an official notification issued by the agency while releasing the provisional answer keys for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG).
The agency, which is currently embroiled in controversy for irregularities in high-stakes exams such as NEET-UG, specified that it will redo the exam if any grievances raised by the candidates on its conduct are found to be correct.
The NTA notification says that the test will be retaken between July 15-19 for such candidates under the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.
“The NTA is addressing the grievances received regarding the exam conducted for CUET-UG 2024 and received up to June 30. If the grievance is genuine, the NTA is committed to redoing the exam for these candidates at selected centres any day between July 15-19, 2024..The admit card will be issued to the candidates. All such candidates will take the exam in CBT mode only,” the notification read.
The notification was issued amid calls for re-conducting NEET-UG after allegations of leaks and irregularities in the examination were raised.
CUET-UG is conducted for admissions to undergraduate courses across central universities and other colleges in India. Its results have been delayed as the testing agency found itself in a controversy after declaring the results of NEET-UG on June 4 – the same day the results of the Lok Sabha elections were declared.
NEET-UG’s results were announced almost 10 days in advance while results for CUET-UG, which were supposed to be out by the end of June, have been delayed. The NTA usually announces the result in a week’s time from the date of publishing the provisional answer keys.
It has given candidates time till Tuesday 5pm (July 9) to raise any challenges against the provisional answer key.
This year’s CUET-UG concluded with 1.52 lakh candidates appearing in various tests across the Delhi-NCR region.
The test for Delhi, originally scheduled for May 15, was postponed to May 29 hours before the test, leading to significant confusion among students and parents.
For the first time, CUET-UG was conducted in a hybrid mode, incorporating both traditional pen-and-paper (OMR) methods and computer-based testing (CBT).
