NEW DELHI: The fact-check unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) on Friday exposed another social media claim spreading a false narrative on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the logo of The Times of India.PIB debunked the viral image that was running with the headline “The accusations against Narendra Modi have been confirmed” under TOI logo.“The headline of a fake news article claims that accusations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been confirmed. This image is morphed & AI-generated. No such article has ever been carried out by Times Of India. Do NOT click on any links with such images. It may be a phishing attempt,” said PIB fact check on X. Earlier on Thursday, several Pakistan-based accounts circulated images on social media claiming that they showed the last rites of an Indian Air Force Rafale pilot who allegedly died on May 7. However, the PIB fact-checking unit debunked this claim as “completely false” and clarified that the image is actually from 2008 and bears no relation to the claim.India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. The operation targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, resulting in over 100 terrorist casualties from groups including Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.An understanding to cease hostilities between India and Pakistan was announced on May 10.
