Commuters travelling from Delhi to Faridabad, Palwal, and Sohna via the Badarpur border are expected to experience a significant reduction in travel time from Tuesday.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has completed the construction of bridges and a six-lane highway over the Agra Canal. This new infrastructure is set to open on Tuesday and promises to streamline traffic flow, offering much-needed relief for commuters.

If one is travelling from Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad to Faridabad and Palwal, they have to pass through the often-congested Mathura Road and Badarpur border. While the distance from the border typically equates to a 30-minute journey, frequent traffic jams usually extend this to two and a half hours.

To alleviate this congestion, a new bridge and six-lane highway have been constructed over the Agra Canal near Mithapur Chowk. This infrastructure project aims to reduce travel time between Kalindi Kunj and Sohna via Faridabad to a mere 30 minutes.

Drivers heading towards Mithapur can now bypass Mathura Road by taking a new route via Jasola after Apollo Hospital. This route connects directly to the Sohna Delhi Mumbai Expressway via a six-lane highway. This alternative route provides drivers travelling to Faridabad with another option. A successful trial of the route took place on Friday.

A 24 km highway, constructed at a cost of Rs 5,500 crores, is being built to connect the Delhi Mumbai Expressway under the Bharat Mala Project. Passing through Faridabad Sector 65, the highway runs from DND to the Delhi Mumbai Expressway in Sohna.

While the full stretch is yet to open, a 26 km section from Sector-65 Sahupura in Faridabad to Sohna is already operational. The newly constructed highway will eventually extend beyond Mithapur.

The opening of the Delhi-Agra highway promises reduced traffic congestion and improved connectivity. Travellers heading to Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Haridwar, Hapur, Bijnor, and cities in Rajasthan such as Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, and Jaipur are expected to experience easier journeys.
