Neena Gupta slams streaming platforms for lack of support to female stories: 'OTT ne women centric kuch nahi kiya'

Neena Gupta shared her thoughts on how digital platforms affect female-led projects. She believes that OTT platforms haven’t specifically helped women but have instead given opportunities to small-budget films, writers, and actors.
The actress also stated that more content is being made because of budget constraints, not because of a focus on women-centric stories.
During an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Neena shared her perspective on OTT platforms and said that OTT hasn’t specifically supported women-centric projects. Instead, it has created opportunities because of budget constraints, allowing writers to explore new subjects. She stated, “We get work when needed, as OTT allows experimentation in small-budget films, even giving roles to older generations like myself.”
Gupta noted that digital platforms have helped talented people, regardless of gender, find work and showcase their skills. She advised young women to “keep yourself safe and keep earning.”
On the work front, Neena Gupta’s recent release, ‘Dil Dosti Aur Dogs‘, features an ensemble cast including Sharad Kelkar, Tridha Choudhury, Tinnu Anand, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Masumeh Makhija, Ehan Bhat, Moumita Pal, Keerti Gaekwad Kelkar, and Avyana Chhorwani. The film, directed and co-written by Viral Shah, explores themes of companionship and healing through the stories of couples and families who find solace in their dogs.
