This Navratri, artisans crafted the idol of Goddess Durga using 251 kg of ghee, along with other deities. Once completed, the idols are placed in an air-conditioned pandal maintained at zero to minus one degree

Navratri has begun, and the excitement of Durga Puja is in the air. Pandals are ready, and the worship of Goddess Durga has commenced. As in previous years, many eye-catching puja pandals have been set up in Rajasthan’s Sirohi, attracting visitors from far and wide.

While each pandal committee strives to create something unique, this year, one pandal is Sirohi stands out with a special feature. Here, Maa Durga will be seated in a setting with a temperature of zero degrees.

For the past twenty-one years, ghee idols have been crafted in Jawal village in Sirohi, drawing attention from across the district. This Navratri, as in previous years, the idol of Goddess Durga has been made using 251 kg of ghee. In addition to the Goddess, idols of other deities have also been created from ghee. These unique creations attract many visitors who come from far and wide to admire the craftsmanship.

Before Navratri, artisans from Gujarat, specifically from the Kheda district, are invited to craft these ghee idols. It takes them more than a week to complete the intricate work. Once the idols are made, they are placed in an air-conditioned pandal, where the temperature is maintained between zero and minus one degree to prevent any damage to the delicate ghee structures.

Narayan Lal Suthar of the Chamunda Garba Mandal in Sirohi district stated that ghee idols have been crafted here since 2003. Over the years, artisans have created numerous beautiful idols, including those of Maa Kali, Durga Maa, Parvati Maa, Shri Ram and Baba Ramdev, all from ghee.

This year, they have crafted an idol of Maa Parvati and Shivji alongside Nandi, using 251 kg of ghee. Many devotees are visiting to admire these stunning creations.
