NEW DELHI: Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain has returned to competitive cricket after serving a two-year ban imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching the Emirates Cricket Board’s anti-corruption code during the 2020-21 Abu Dhabi T10 league.
Hossain made his comeback in a Dhaka Premier Division League match for Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club against Gazi Group Cricketers at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that Hossain has met all the requirements of his sanction, including completing a mandatory anti-corruption education session, making him eligible to play official cricket again as of April 7, 2025.
“As per the terms of the sanction, Nasir Hossain has now fulfilled all requirements, including completing the mandatory anti-corruption education session. This has paved the way for his eligibility to re-enter official cricket as of April 7, 2025,” said the BCB.

Hossain, who represented Bangladesh in 19 Tests, 65 ODIs, and 31 T20Is between 2011 and 2018, was banned in September 2023 after being found guilty of three charges related to his involvement with the Pune Devils franchise in the T10 league.
The charges included failing to disclose the receipt of a gift valued over 750 US dollars (a new iPhone 12), not reporting an approach to engage in corrupt conduct via the iPhone, and not cooperating with the anti-corruption official’s investigation.
Six months of his two-year ban were suspended.
