NASA astronaut Butch Wilmore's daughter shares heartbreaking video, why she's missing her father more than ever now

As Butch Wilmore and co-astronaut Sunita Williams await return to earth, an emotional video of Daryn Wilmore the 19 year old daughter of Butch is doing rounds on social media.
“In a heartbreaking video quietly uploaded to social media last month, Daryn, 19, said that her father had ‘missed out on a lot’ during his uncertain nine-month stay in space — including Christmas and her parents’ 30-year wedding anniversary,” Daily Mail reported. “He’s missed out on a lot. It’s less the fact that he’s up there sometimes; it’s more the fact of why. There’s a lot of politics, there’s a lot of things that I’m not at liberty say in that I don’t know fully about. But there’s been issues, there’s been negligence,” she said in the social media post which has been cited by media.
Wilmore has also missed out “Logan’s senior year of high school and Daryn’s college theater performances,” the media report said.Wilmore is married to the former Miss Deanna Newport of Helenwood, Tennessee. The couple has two daughters Daryn and Logan. The family stays in Houston, Texas and have been waiting for his return since June. ‘I talk to my dad all the time,’ Daryn said, adding that she calls him every day or every couple of days.

When will Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore return to earth?

NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry “Butch” Wilmore have been aboard the International Space Station (ISS) since June 2024, following the malfunction of their return vehicle, Boeing’s Starliner capsule. Initially planned as a brief mission, their stay was extended due to thruster issues and helium leaks in the Starliner, rendering it unsafe for their return.

To facilitate their return, NASA and SpaceX scheduled the Crew-10 mission to transport a new crew to the ISS, allowing Williams and Wilmore to return aboard the SpaceX Dragon capsule. The Crew-10 launch, initially set for March 12, 2025, was postponed due to a hydraulic system issue with the Falcon 9 rocket’s ground support equipment.
As of March 13, 2025, the launch is rescheduled for March 14, 2025, at 7:26 p.m. EST. Upon successful arrival and handover procedures, Williams and Wilmore are expected to depart the ISS and return to Earth, potentially as early as March 16, 2025.
