Nagrota MLA Devender Singh Rana, the brother of Union Minister Jitendra Singh, passed away at a hospital in Faridabad.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh’s brother and Nagrota MLA Devender Singh Rana passed away at a private hospital in Haryana’s Faridabad on Thursday. Rana, 59, was undergoing treatment at the hospital and is survived by his wife Gunjan Rana, their daughters Devyani and Ketki, and son Adhiraj Singh, according to a BJP leader.
Jitendra Singh rushed to his residence in the Gandhinagar area of Jammu at night as the news of his brother’s death spread. Hundreds of people which also included political ones arrived at the house.
Who was Devender Singh Rana?
Rana was a BJP leader who switched to politics from business as he erected a multi-crore business. He was considered a strong and vocal voice for the Dogra community in the Jammu region.
He was re-elected as the MLA in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections from the Nagrota constituency of the Jammu district. He won the seat for the second term. He secured victory in the seat in 2014 as a National Conference candidate.
