Mumbai Indians, one of the most decorated franchises in IPL history, find themselves in a relatively tough spot at the halfway stage of the tournament. The five-time champions have played 7 games, winning just 3, and are currently sitting in seventh position on the points table.
Hits
Suryakumar Yadav has been the standout performer with the bat for MI this season, scoring 265 runs at an average of 44.17 and a strike rate of 151.43. Alongside him, Tilak Varma has also impressed, scoring 231 runs with an average of 46.20 and a strike rate of 141.71. In the bowling department, captain Hardik Pandya has surprisingly emerged as their best bowler, taking 11 wickets so far with an average of 16.64 and an economy of 9.15.

Poll

Will the Mumbai Indians qualify for the playoffs this season?

Misses
The biggest concern for MI has been the form of their former captain, Rohit Sharma. The veteran opener has struggled throughout the season, managing just 82 runs, with a highest score of only 26. Will Jacks has also failed to make a consistent impact and hasn’t lit up the stage as expected.
Who’s that IPL player?
After the auctions, MI’s bowling lineup looked highly promising, especially with new-ball specialists like Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult in the mix. However, the reality has been disappointing, as Chahar and Boult have only managed 5 and 6 wickets respectively so far. The injury to Jasprit Bumrah also didn’t help MI’s cause, with the star pacer missing the first four games.
Playoff Chances
MI are no strangers to epic comebacks from seemingly impossible situations. They still have a chance to qualify for the playoffs but will need to win 5 out of their remaining 7 games. The squad has the firepower to do it, but the turnaround will heavily depend on their out-of-form stars stepping up quickly.
