The year’s biggest names in music gathered Wednesday at UBS Arena in Long Island, NY for a chance to take home a Moon Person.

Hosted by Megan Thee Stallion, the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards featured the likes of Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Glorilla, Karol G and LL Cool J, making his first VMAs gig in over 25 years, all while celebrating the best performances of the year.

With 10 nominations, Taylor Swift led the pack at the awards show, followed by Post Malone, Ariana Grande, Eminem, Sabrina Carpenter, Megan Thee Stallion and SZA.

Carpenter and Roan were among this year’s crop of first-time nominees, which also includes Teddy Swims, Benson Boone, Tyla, Jelly Roll, Jessie Murph, Rauw Alejandro, Sexyy Red, Victoria Monét, Alexander Stewart, Burna Boy, Coco Jones, Flyana Boss, Gracie Abrams, Gunna, Joyner Lucas, Laufey, LE SSERAFIM, Lojay, Morgan Wallen, Myke Towers, NCT Dream, Pheelz, Playboi Carti, RAYE, Shaboozey, Tyler Childers and The Warning.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry has been announced as the recipient of this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, for which she will perform a 20-minute set.

The 2024 MTV VMAs was previously scheduled for this Tuesday before it was postponed so not to conflict with the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump on ABC. Falling on the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, MTV also honored the nonprofits 9/11 Day and Tuesday’s Children.
