India cricketer Mohammed Shami recently shared a video of himself working out in the gym, showcasing his commitment to fitness and preparation for future matches. It comes a day after he was not included in the India squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
Known for his exceptional bowling skills and ability to swing the ball, Shami has been on the sidelines since the ODI World Cup in November last year. He underwent surgery to treat his Achilles earlier in the year and had consistently claimed he was working to be fit for the home series against Bangladesh and then New Zealand. The India seamer stated he was banking on using these contests as the stepping stone for the bigger task of a five-match Test series in Australia.
Unfortunately for him, he was diagnosed with swelling on his knee which hurt his recovery process at the Centre of Excellence (earlier National Cricket Academy).
In the video, Shami can be seen engaging in a rigorous workout routine, emphasising on strength training and agility exercises.
Earlier in the week, Shami had stated he was fully pain-free and planned to play a couple of domestic matches before the Australia tour.
Additionally, Bengal coach Laxmi Ratan Shukla also confirmed that Shami was eager to participate in the Ranji Trophy
