Mini Mathur drops precious 27th wedding anniversary post for Kabir Khan: 'Unencumbered by the trappings of religious differences...'

Actor-turned-host Mini Mathur took a nostalgic trip down memory lane as she celebrated her 27th wedding anniversary with filmmaker Kabir Khan.
On Friday (February 28), Mathur shared a series of throwback pictures from their wedding day, including moments from their marriage registry. She added that they were not affected by the religious differences in their marriage.
In her Instagram post, Mathur reminisced about the simplicity of their wedding, highlighting how it was free from extravagant trends like designer lehengas, curated wedding hashtags, and dramatic bridal entries. Instead, she fondly recalled the sheer joy of being surrounded by loved ones.
Mathur reflected on how their union was unfazed by religious differences. “But I do remember being deliriously happy, singing and dancing like a monkey, surrounded by Kabir’s extensive Khan-daan from Hyderabad, the entire Mathur clan, and all our friends. That was a simpler time, with live shehnai and songs written and sung by my family… unencumbered by the trappings of religious differences or any kind of propriety,” she wrote.

She further recalled how they officially signed the register but still went on to embrace the cultural traditions of both families.
“We signed a register… but went ahead and happily did all the cultural ceremonies from both sides anyway! I wore my naani’s jewellery, my friend @vidyatikari did my makeup, and she gave me a trendy cornrow hairstyle, which created much confusion in the mandap as to which one to fill with sindoor🤣. It took me an hour to take the pins off, and I looked electrocuted on my wedding night.”
Mathur shared how she wore her grandmother’s jewellery and had her makeup done by a close friend. She also sported a trendy cornrow hairstyle, which led to an amusing mix-up during the ceremony.
Mathur recalled that their wedding invitations were sent out through phone calls and postal mail. “It still feels like five years ago, honestly… so I can’t fathom how all this time has passed. In all these years, what I have learnt is to focus on our similarities, not our differences. To keep a sense of humour (you need tons of it) and a short memory for things that don’t feel so good (lots of those too). And looks like we made it! Happy 27th to us, @kabirkhankk.”
Mathur added a recent picture of them sitting together to reminisce about the beauty of their 27 years of togetherness.
The couple are proud parents to their children, Vivaan and Sairah.
