MedCity News
The MedCity Moves Podcast is back with another episode. We dive into some of the executive appointments occurring in the healthcare sector over the past month — including new leaders at Oscar Health, Providence and Tia. We also discuss layoffs affecting the industry — such the recent rounds of job cuts at Pear Therapeutics, Workit Health and Novant Health.
For this episode’s guest interview, we hear from Dr. Rob Fields, who recently became the chief clinical officer at Beth Israel Lahey Health. He comes to the role after serving as Mount Sinai’s chief population health officer.
With this appointment, Beth Israel Lahey Health is opting to have a chief clinical officer instead of a chief medical officer. Chief medical officers typically oversee clinical quality and safety at a health system, and these are services that Dr. Fields will provide in his new role, but he will also help develop strategy for clinical programs and business units, such as those for primary care, behavioral health, post-acute services and home-based care.
