Manchester United are trying to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Germany journalist has reported on X that the Premier League club and the Bundesliga outfit are in contact over a potential deal for de Ligt.
Plettenberg has reported that De Ligt is keen on a move to United. The Red Devils’ manager, Erik ten Hag, is himself interested in working with the Netherlands international central defender at Old Trafford.
The reporter wrote on X: “Been told Manchester United and FC Bayern are now in contact about a permanent deal of Matthijs de Ligt! #MUFC
“Understand De Ligt‘s agent Rafaela Pimenta working on a top solution. De Ligt, keen to join ManUtd and Ten Hag as reported – but there are no total agreements yet.”
De Ligt has been on the books of Bayern since 2022 when he joined from Juventus. The 24-year-old scored two goals in 16 starts and six substitute appearances in the Bundesliga and gave one assist in five starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Champions League for the Bavarian giants last season.
