The father had asked the daughter to stay away from the man who later went on to shoot at him, the police said.
A 25-year-old man in Hyderabad allegedly opened fire on his girlfriend’s father for sending her to the US with the intention of breaking their relationship, police said.
The bullet struck the eye of the father, identified as Revanth Anand (57) after Balwinder Singh fired with an airgun after an argument.
The incident took place in the Venkateswara Colony under the Saroornagar police station limits of the Rachakonda Commissionerate.
How did the incident take place?
The police said that Balwinder was in friendship with the 23-year-old daughter of Anand, a businessman, for the last few years. When he discovered their relationship, he ordered his daughter not to meet the man. He also issued a warning to her against carrying forward their friendship.
However, when he found out that they had not stopped meeting and interacting over the phone, Anand sent his daughter away to the US.
Man shoots at girlfriend’s father
Balwinder went to his girlfriend’s residence and entered into an argument with her father. He opened one round from the airgun that he had in a fit of rage.
Anand suffered critical injury as the bullet struck his eye. The police rushed him to the hospital soon after receiving the information. Balwinder fled from the spot but was arrested later.
The police booked him and initiated an investigation into the matter.
