The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), also known as Visit Maldives, is excited to share that Destination Maldives was prominently featured in a series of webinars organized by the Japan Outbound Tourism Council (JOTC), an entity within the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA). These webinars, which included four sessions, were designed to promote various travel destinations to the Japanese travel industry. Destination Maldives took the spotlight in the inaugural session on May 30th and 31st, 2024, where it presented the latest travel updates and guidelines, aiming to inspire travel professionals to enrich their Maldives offerings.

JOTC, charged with enhancing JATA’s communication and cooperation with international bodies, travel ministries, and Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), launched this webinar series as part of their outreach initiatives. Targeting around 300 travel professionals and trade media, the webinar was free to attend and lasted 25 minutes on the Zoom platform.

This webinar series served as a significant platform for Maldives to disseminate information, update travel professionals with the latest news from the region, and garner positive media attention. Visit Maldives focused on reinforcing its presence in the critical Japanese market and supporting its trade partners. Emphasizing the growing importance of the Japanese market and the success of the Maldives tourism sector were also pivotal aspects of this endeavor.

With tourist arrivals from Japan on a consistent rise post-pandemic, MMPRC is actively deploying various strategies to leverage this upward trend fully. These strategies encompass ambient outdoor advertising in major Japanese cities, social media campaigns in Japanese, engagement of Japanese-speaking staff and guests in these campaigns, positioning the Maldives as a chic and premium destination, and targeted advertising and promotions highlighting diverse products and experiences. In continuation of these efforts, MMPRC plans to participate in the Tourism Expo Japan (TEJ) 2024, a premier travel expo, to further showcase the exceptional offerings of the Maldives to prospective travelers in this market.
