Mahima Chaudhry compares 'Nadaaniyan' backlash to the criticism faced by Ranbir Kapoor’s 'Animal': 'Some people like real cinema, some like make-believe...'

Mahima Chaudhry, who played Khushi Kapoor’s on-screen mother in Nadaaniyan, opened up about the film’s harsh criticism. In a recent interview, she drew parallels between its reception and the backlash Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal faced.
Mahima told DNA that audience opinions on films are always divided. She acknowledged the negative reviews but pointed out that movies like Animal have also faced criticism. According to her, some viewers prefer realistic storytelling, while others enjoy light, escapist cinema, making such differences in reception inevitable.

The actress also shared that her family and friends had positive feedback about Nadaaniyan. She mentioned reaching out to loved ones after the film’s release and was delighted to hear that many had already watched it. She also revealed receiving an outpouring of love and encouraging messages in her DMs.

Earlier, Hrithik Roshan’s mother, Pinkie Roshan, has criticized the film ‘Nadaaniyan,’ starring Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor, labeling it as “mindless.” The movie has received lukewarm responses due to its weak storyline and predictable plot.

Apart from Khushi Kapoor, Ibrahim Ali Khan, and Mahima Chaudhry, Nadaaniyan also boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Dia Mirza, Jugal Hansraj, Meezan Jafri, Archana Puran Singh, and Apoorva Makhija. Directed by Shauna Gautam, the film has been backed by Dharmatic Entertainment.
