Madhu Chopra calls ‘Bajirao Mastani’ Priyanka Chopra’s most challenging work: Sanjay Leela Bhansali isn’t an easy director

Priyanka Chopra is one of the most versatile stars we have. Be it a Bollywood movie or a Hollywood blockbuster, Priyanka Chopra knows how to leave an impression. Though every movie of the actress is celebrated and lauded for her work, ‘Bajroa Mastani’ hits different. According to Priyanka’s mother Madhu Chopra, playing Kashi Bai was one of the most challenging roles for PeeCee.
In an interview with Lehren, Priyanka’s mother was asked to pick her daughter’s favorite performance. She ‘Barfi’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani,’ and shared, “Kashibai was very hard because there were tight shots, and it was all on the face. The expressions were everything. Sanjay [Leela] Bhansali is not an easy director, and to keep him pleased in the sense that he is satisfied with the performance… that was the target. That was something she was very focused on. There were no distractions, she would not even talk inside her van during that time.”
During the interview, Madhu revealed she had no idea if there was ever a fallout between Priyanka and Bhansali. These fall out speculations began when Priyanka was not offered the lead in ‘Ram Leela.’ However, her song ‘Ram Chahe Leela,’ from the movie, has its own fanbase. Priyanka was rather happy when she was approached for Mary Kom later, a film that was produced by Bhansali.
Fast forward to present, Priyanka will be seen next in ‘Heads of State’ and the second season of ‘Citadel.’ Reportedly, she also has SS Rajamouli’s next with Mahesh Babu in her kitty. An official announcement is expected to be made soon regarding the same.
Fans are eagerly awaiting to see what new dimensions she will bring to her upcoming projects, further solidifying her status as a powerhouse performer in the industry.
