Lok Sabha results not a mandate for any political party to form govt: Sachin Pilot | India News – Times of India

TOI News Desk

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Friday said that the Lok Sabha elections results was not a mandate for any single political party to form a government during a panel discussion at Oxford University’s Blavatnik School of Government in London.
While interacting with the students and faculty members on the elections in India, the Congress leader said, “This (Indian) election was a long election… seven phases long. Indian elections are a phenomenal exercise. It’s the largest planned human exercise on earth.”

“It (the results) was not a mandate for any political party to form a government. It’s a coalition. It was a coalition of parties which has now formed a new government. Something has shifted. For the last 10 years, we had a government that was doing a lot of propaganda, marketing, using the media but the reality on the ground was different in terms of job creation, a big gap in rich and poor,” he added.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Pilot talks on the responsible role of the opposition and the Congress party’s manifesto, that widely focused on socio-economic development.

“The Congress party’s manifesto addressed issues which were widely affecting socio-economic development. The ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ led by Rahul Gandhi ji connected with the masses. Congress party and its alliance partners will play a responsible role of opposition both within the parliament and outside,” he wrote on X.
