Kubbra Sait confirms not playing Surpanakha in Ranbir Kapoor’s 'Ramayana': 'I think I would have been great'

Kubbra Sait has addressed the speculation surrounding her potential role as Surpanakha in the highly anticipated Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Ramayana’.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, she confirmed that she is not part of the film but shared her excitement about having auditioned for the role.
Kubbra humorously remarked that her nose made her an ideal choice for the role of Surpanakha. She playfully expressed her enthusiasm, saying she would have been a perfect fit but wasn’t cast. However, she added that she was eager to find out who would be playing the character.
She shared that she auditioned for the role but didn’t get it. However, she remains thankful for the opportunity. She emphasized that missing out on a role doesn’t mean losing everything and expressed gratitude for simply being considered and getting the chance to audition.
Although Kubbra won’t be playing the mythical character, she believes she could have done it justice. She mentioned that filming has already begun, confirming her absence from the project. However, she expressed that it would have been an exciting and thrilling experience to take on the role.
Despite missing out on ‘Ramayana’, Kubbra’s career is on an upward trajectory. She recently starred in Deva (2025) alongside Shahid Kapoor, a film that has sparked buzz about a possible sequel. In 2024, she appeared in ‘Khwaabon Ka Jhamela’, a rom-com that received positive reviews.
Looking ahead, she is set to feature in an upcoming David Dhawan family entertainer, where she will share screen space with Varun Dhawan. Known for her diverse roles, from the bold Kukoo in Sacred Games to international projects like Foundation, Kubbra continues to challenge herself with unique characters.
‘Ramayana’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is one of Bollywood’s most awaited mythological adaptations. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, while other major casting choices remain under wraps. With high expectations surrounding the project, fans eagerly await official announcements on who will play pivotal roles, including that of Surpanakha.
