'Koi future plan hai nahi': Rohit Sharma after India win Champions Trophy 2025 title

NEW DELHI: Rohit Sharma led by example with a crucial 76, complementing a dominant spin-bowling display, as India clinched a record third Champions Trophy title with a four-wicket victory over New Zealand on Sunday.
This win adds to India’s previous triumphs in 2002 and 2013, making them the only team to claim the title three times, surpassing Australia’s two championships.
Chasing 252 for victory, India got off to a flying start, powered by their skipper’s first half-century of the tournament. KL Rahul then showed great composure with an unbeaten 34, steering India home with six balls to spare in the final in Dubai.
As the world’s top-ranked ODI side, India remained unbeaten throughout the eight-nation tournament.
The moment Rohit stepped into the press conference room, he seemed to anticipate the inevitable question about his future.
And, as expected, the Indian captain responded in his signature style.
“Koi future plan hai nahi, jo chal raha hai chalega (no future plan, whatever is happening will continue),” Rohit said in the post-match press conference.
Reflecting on his approach to batting, Rohit said: “I scored heavily in the 2019 World Cup but maza nahi aaya… team didn’t win. When the team wins, and you make a contribution, it gives satisfaction. I am clear in my mind how I want to bat, and that is what I am trying to do.”
Rohit was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant 76 off 83 balls.
This marks Rohit’s second ICC trophy as captain, following India’s ICC T20 World Cup 2024 triumph, where they edged past South Africa in a thrilling final in Barbados.
With this victory, India further cemented their status as the most successful team in Champions Trophy history, winning the prestigious tournament without a single defeat.
