Renowned Korean actress Kim Tae Hee recently faced a terrifying armed robbery while shooting in South Africa. The shocking incident was shared by celebrity makeup artist Jung Seam Mool during her appearance on 10 Billion Won Breakfast on March 6.
Kim Tae Hee is considered one of the leading actresses in Korea, having crafted a remarkable career with memorable performances in shows like Stairway to Heaven, Iris, and Hi Bye, Mama!. With her grace and skill, she continues to be a cherished personality in the entertainment world. Recently, she’s been in the spotlight again thanks to her comeback in acting and various endorsements. However, the robbery occurred during a gathering organized by a local guide.
According to Jung, Kim Tae Hee and their team were invited to a dinner hosted by members of the Korean community in South Africa.
She stated that the excitement of the warm welcome quickly turned into panic when a group of armed robbers stormed in. “The guide invited us to dinner. Since he told others that celebrities like actress Kim Tae Hee and other famous people from Korea would be there, the entire Korean community gathered there.”. She recalled that just a few moments into the event, chaos broke out when masked intruders stormed in, brandishing firearms. They grabbed everything of value, including Kim Tae Hee’s stuff, which was worth more than KRW 20 million (around USD 13,800), along with a pricey camera from a photographer. The assailants even herded a bunch of people, kids included, into a bathroom. Thankfully, amidst all the madness, everyone came out unscathed. However, the event was significant enough to warrant coverage on South Africa’s 9 o’clock news. Nevertheless, Jung disclosed that Kim Tae Hee maintained her composure during the entire situation.
While sharing her traumatic experience, Jung found solace in an unexpected moment of warmth.
Jung shared, “A young Black girl looked at me with bright, curious eyes and smiled. She hugged me. That hug from the girl made all the fear and horrific trauma disappear.”
While the robbery left a lasting impact, Kim Tae Hee continues to focus on her work, demonstrating her resilience in both her personal life and her career.
