The newly minted parents Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor welcomed a baby girl recently and have just moments ago revealed her name. In a heartfelt Instagram post Alia Bhatt shared her name is ‘Raha’. 

“The name Raha (chosen by her wise and wonderful Dadi) has so many beautiful meanings…Raha, in its purest form means divine path, in Swahili she is Joy, in Sanskrit, Raha is a clan, in Bangla – rest, comfort, relief, in Arabic peace, it also means happiness, freedom & bliss. And true to her name, from the first moment we held her – we felt it ALL! Thank you Raha, for bringing our family to life, it feels as though our lives have only just begun,” read the post. 

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor also shared an exclusive image with a baby Barcelona Football Club jersey framed on the nursery wall behind them in focus with the name ‘Raha’ printed on it, as they hold their daughter close. It’s a renowned fact that Kapoor is an avid footballer and fan of the sports team so it seems fitting to reveal their daughter’s name in such fashion. 

Interestingly, the visual also serves as a sneak peak into Raha’s nursery, which appears to follow a more neutral and calm aesthetic with beige wall paper complete with intricate doodles of leaves and trees in warmer green, yellow and brown tones. One can’t help but spot its inspiration from Kapoor’s proposal to Bhatt during a New Year’s trip they took to Masai Mara, Africa. If Bhatt’s latest Instagram post is anything to go by, then we predict the rest of Raha’s nursery will also be outdoor themed.
