Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan first shared the screen in Rakesh Roshan’s 1995 blockbuster Karan Arjun. At the time, neither had reached the superstar status they enjoy today, but their camaraderie on set was undeniable. However, the two often pretended to be at odds just to tease those around them.
In a recent interview with Galatta India, veteran comedian Johny Lever, who was also part of the film, recounted a particular prank that left the entire unit in shock. He revealed that while shooting in Jaipur, Salman would often poke fun at Shah Rukh, leading to concerns that it might escalate into an actual feud. “All the other people, including me, got a little worried that Shah Rukh might take these things to heart,” Johny shared.
One evening, after a long day of filming, the cast and crew gathered for a party when an argument broke out between Salman and Shah Rukh. Johny recalled, “Suddenly Salman pulled out a gun, and all of us heard a gunshot. Then we saw Shah Rukh fall on the ground.” The unexpected turn of events left everyone frozen in shock, including veteran writer Honey Irani, who was also present. However, moments later, Shah Rukh got up, and both actors burst into laughter, revealing that it was all a well-executed prank.

Salman himself later spoke about the incident on Aap Ki Adaalat, explaining how he had sourced a blank gun from the prop department. “I told Shah Rukh, I’ll call you for dance, you refuse, and then we will engage in a scuffle, and here’s a blank gun. I will fire a shot at you, and you will fall down. Shah Rukh said he was not in a mood, he was tired,” he recalled. He further elaborated, “My brother Sohail was there. I pulled Shah Rukh’s hand, and he snatched it away. He pushed me, and I also pushed him. A scuffle ensued, I took out the gun and fired a shot at him. Shah Rukh did a somersault and fell down.”
