Alia Bhatt’s new posters.
Jigra marks the first collaboration between Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina, who will reportedly play siblings in the film.
As anticipation around Alia Bhatt’s Jigra builds up, the actress has released two new posters from the film. She has also confirmed that the film’s teaser will be released on September 8. Alia considers eight to be her lucky number, this could be a reason behind the release date.
Alia Bhatt looks fierce in the new posters and as she stares into the camera. Her stare feels powerful and protective, hinting at the plot of the film. She wrote, “’Dum hai…Satya mein dum hai!’ #JIGRA TEASER TRAILER OUT ON 8TH SEPTEMBER ✌✌✌✌.” Check out the posters here:
Last year, Alia Bhatt talked about Jigra and opened up about its plot. She had revealed that the film is a story of ‘courage, passion and determination’. “Just a little over a year later, we are ready to launch our second production – Jigra, a beautiful story of courage, passion and determination. I hope to consistently support compelling narratives that are authentic, and enduringly timeless and work with brilliant creative minds to bring them alive,” Alia added.
It was also recently revealed that the actress had to learn basketball for the film. As reported by E-Times, Alia Bhatt has several scenes in Jigra in which she will be seen playing basketball and therefore, to make it look authentic, director Vasan Bala assigned a coach to her.
Reportedly, Alia underwent extensive basketball training for the film. A coach on the sets was assigned who not only taught her the rules of the game but also basic movements like dribble and double dribble. Besides this, Alia also learnt how to pass and how to dunk the ball in the basket. Besides Alia, Jigra will also star ‘The Archies’ star Vedang Raina. He will be playing the role of Alia’s brother in the movie.
It should also be noted that Alia Bhatt is not just playing the lead in Jigra but is also producing it. Previously, in an interview with Film Companion, the actress opened up about venturing into production and shared that it is ‘exciting and overwhelming’ at the same time. “I believe stories are everywhere, and stories are everything! I turned producer with Eternal Sunshine to tell some of these stories, ones that evoke emotions and leave an impact. Our first production, Darlings, got so much love that it was exciting and overwhelming at the same time,” she said.
