Jasprit Bumrah joined the Mumbai Indians camp on Saturday evening and head coach Mahela Jayawardene confirmed his participation in the Indian Premier League 2025 fixture vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday. The star seamer trained with the MI unit at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday and was back to his old ways in the nets.
In a video shared by the franchise, he cleaned up a teammate with a toe-crushing yorker and the post captioned “Goodnight Paltan” went viral in no time. Bumrah has been out of action since the Sydney Test vs Australia and the RCB fixture will be his first appearance in over three months.
Coach Jayawardene is happy to have his leading bowler back in the camp and would hope his return triggers a turnaround for the Hardik Pandya-led unit.

“Boom (Bumrah) is coming back from a pretty decent layoff. So, we need to give him that space and not expect too much. But knowing Jasprit, he’ll be up for it. And we’re very happy to have him in the camp.
“The experience that he brings and that extra voice out there in the middle, chatting with Bolti (Trent Boult), chatting with Deepak (Chahar) or any other younger bowler, giving that advice is also very valuable for us. So, that’s what we’re looking forward to from him,” says Jayawardene at the pre-match presser.
It hasn’t been an ideal start for MI as they have lost three out of their four fixtures. The only win came against the Kolkata Knight Riders where they outplayed Ajinkya Rahane & Co. by eight wickets. They are currently eighth on the table with just two points.
