Isolated Extremely Heavy Rainfall Very Likely over Gujarat during Next 4-5 Days, Says IMD’s Latest Forecast – News18

Under the influence of a monsoon depression over the Odisha coast, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over Vidarbha, south Chhattisgarh, and heavy to very heavy rainfall over south Odisha, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana on Saturday, the India Meteorological Department said.

According to the latest forecast, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also very likely over Gujarat during the next 4-5 days, over Konkan, Goa, and Ghat areas of central Maharashtra on Saturday with a slight reduction thereafter during the subsequent 4-5 days.

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over west, central, east, and south peninsular India during the next 5 days, said the IMD.

According to the report, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and south Chhattisgarh on July 20, and Gujarat from July 20 to 24. Very heavy rainfall is very likely at some places over Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh during July 21-24, Vidarbha and coastal Karnataka on July 21 and 22, Chhattisgarh on July 21, and south interior Karnataka, south Odisha, Marathwada, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana on July 20.

Heavy rainfall is very likely at some places over Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu on July 20, north interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe on July 20-21, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana on July 21, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim during July 20-22, Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand on July 22-23, Bihar on July 23-24, and Odisha, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, coastal and south interior Karnataka during the next 5 days, said the IMD.

Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, east Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, while isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Punjab, and west Rajasthan during the next 5 days.

Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over Uttarakhand on July 21-22. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over east Rajasthan on July 23-24, Uttarakhand on July 23, Himachal Pradesh on July 22-23, and west Uttar Pradesh on July 22.

Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over west Uttar Pradesh and Haryana during July 21-24, west Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh during July 22-24, Punjab on July 22-23, and Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and east Rajasthan during the next 5 days.

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over northeast India during the next 5 days.

Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya on July 21.
