Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma achieved a significant milestone by becoming the second player to score over 6000 runs for a single franchise in T20 cricket during the IPL 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Thursday. His innings of 53 runs off 36 balls contributed to Mumbai Indians posting a formidable total of 217/2.
Rohit has now amassed 6024 runs in 231 matches for Mumbai Indians, placing him second behind Virat Kohli, who leads with 8871 runs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
After a challenging start to IPL 2025 with just 56 runs in his first five matches, Rohit has found his rhythm, scoring 234 runs in his last five innings, including two not-out fifties and the recent 53 against Rajasthan Royals.
Mumbai Indians’ innings began strongly with Rohit and Ryan Rickelton putting on a 116-run opening partnership. The team reached 50 runs in 5.2 overs and ended the powerplay at 58 without loss.
Rickelton reached his half-century in 29 balls, while Rohit followed with his fifty off 31 deliveries. Rickelton’s innings of 61 came from 38 balls, featuring seven boundaries and three sixes, before falling to Maheesh Theekshana.
Rohit’s innings, which included nine boundaries, came to an end when he was dismissed by Rajasthan captain Riyan Parag.

Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya then took control of the innings, forming an unbeaten 94-run partnership. Both batsmen scored 48 runs each from 23 balls, with Suryakumar finishing the innings with a six off the final delivery.
The Rajasthan Royals’ bowling attack struggled to contain the Mumbai batsmen, with only Theekshana and Parag managing to take one wicket each.
The hosts now face the challenging task of chasing down the substantial target of 218 runs to secure victory.
