As the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) gear up for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, skipper Rishabh Pant discussed a key element of his leadership approach: the importance of being proactive.
Pant, who made headlines last year when LSG bought him for Rs 27 crore, the highest price ever in IPL history, aims to lead LSG to their inaugural IPL title.

Pant emphasised the challenge of establishing effective communication with senior players and international stars, a crucial aspect of captaincy in the IPL.
“I want to be proactive, and I’ve been learning this over the past two years. Effective communication with management and players strengthens our bond. It’s essential to have a single communication channel to ensure everyone is aligned and working towards the same goals, which is challenging given the number of senior and international players in the league,” Pant noted in a video shared by Star Sports on X.
He further expressed his desire to create an environment where players feel free to express themselves. “I want to foster a space where everyone can share their thoughts. It’s a simple idea, but executing it takes considerable effort from everyone involved,” he explained.
LSG’s first match of the IPL 2025 season will be against the Delhi Capitals, a team previously captained by Pant, on March 24 at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. LSG reached the playoffs in the 2022 and 2023 seasons but fell short in the Eliminator both times, finishing seventh in the IPL 2024 standings.
