NEW DELHI: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) turned their revenge win over Punjab Kings into a full-blown social media spectacle, roasting their opponents with a savage throwback post featuring none other than Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
Moments after their seven-wicket win on Sunday, RCB dug up an old tweet from 2014 where Salman Khan had asked on Twitter, “Zinta’s team won kya?” In a cheeky reply, RCB quote-posted it with: “Sorry bhai, not today.”
And it was not their only dig of the night.

The troll was followed up with another burn, posting a video of Virat Kohli and captioning it, “Every masterpiece has a copy. Stick to the original. Enjoy.”
The dig was aimed directly at Punjab Kings, who had earlier posted a video mimicking Kohli’s dance steps following their win over RCB in the previous game.
Clearly, RCB were not just out to win on the field as they came armed with receipts.

Poll

Was RCB’s social media roast of Punjab Kings warranted?

On the pitch, it was Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal who led the charge.
Chasing 158, the duo stitched together a 103-run stand, with Padikkal hammering 61 off 35 balls and Kohli anchoring with an unbeaten 73 off 54. Their seamless strokeplay dismantled Punjab’s bowling attack with ease, chasing the total down in just 18.5 overs.

Padikkal, finally hitting form after a long drought, showed class with his effortless shot-making, while Kohli continued his fine run, showing composure and experience.
Earlier, spinners Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma had stifled Punjab’s batters, restricting them to a modest 157. The collapse came swiftly after a promising start, as Punjab lost wickets in clumps and never fully recovered.
While RCB climbed the points table with the win, they also walked away with the last laugh online.
