NEW DELHI: Bollywood star Disha Patani is set to dazzle at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Indian Premier League. The official X handle of the IPL confirmed the news, announcing that the grand event will take place at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
“When it’s 18 years of IPL, it calls for a dazzling celebration like never before! Who better than the sensational Disha Patani to set the stage ablaze? Don’t miss the electrifying Opening Ceremony of the #TATAIPL 18,” read the post.
Alongside Disha Patani, singers Karan Aujla and Shreya Ghoshal are also reportedly set to perform at the star-studded event.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by ICC chairman Jay Shah and other dignitaries.
“It’s a marquee match with high demand for tickets. Eden Gardens is set to host an opening ceremony after a long time,” said CAB president Snehasish Ganguly, while keeping further details under wraps.
IPL 2025 is set to kick off on March 22, with Royal Challengers Bangalore taking on Kolkata Knight Riders at the historic Eden Gardens. The tournament will be broadcast live on Star Sports and streamed via JioHotstar.
KKR enter the season as defending champions, having clinched the IPL 2024 title under Shreyas Iyer’s leadership with a victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final.
This season, KKR will be led by Ajinkya Rahane.
